LV, EHV & Earthing works - Tregassow Solar Farm, St Erme, Nr Truro, Cornwall

Introduction.

Oskemera was appointed to build a large scale ground mounted solar farm on behalf of Lightsourse Renewable Energy Limited within the Cornwall’s rolling countryside. The farm generates 5MW of electricity from its 24,975 solar panels. The electricity is exported & connected to the Western Power Distibution network.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to provide a turnkey package for the, installation of all cables (EHV, LV & Earth) including terminating, jointing & pressure testing upon completion.

Scope of Works.
To install 6,830 metres of 4c LV DC Cu SWA cable.
To install 1700 metres of 70mm hard drawn Cu earth cable.
To install 900 metres of 1c 300mm Al XLPE CWS 33Kv
To install 140 x 4c 35mm Cu SWA terminations.
To install 9 x 1c 300mm Al XLPE CWS 33Kv Tyco EPKT indoor terminations.
To install 9 x 1c 300mm Al XLPE CWS 33Kv Euromold 400 series separable connectors.
Successfully VLF pressure test cable upon completion.

Summary
Despite struggling with the worst site conditions wootton & Wootton have ever dealt with. The team struggled on and managed to complete the works on time & budget in particularly difficult conditions.
