CASE STUDIES

66kV OHL to UG Diversion - ICI Fibres to Wheatley Park, Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Introduction.

Northern powergrid (NPg) decided to underground the small section of overhead line between Wheatley Park and ICI Fibres 66kV Substations due to high fault occurances on the OHL. The new Cct was approximately 1Km in length and was single ciruit 66kV and associated pilot & telephone cables.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to modify the existing OHL concrete support structures into CSE structures, install intermediate straight joints (power & comms), installation of cable sealing ends, site supervision and pressure testing upon completion.
