To facilitate the installation of a new 132/33kV transformer and associated plant, Wootton & Wootton were contracted to provide a turnkey package for the project management, excavation & reinstatement, installation of 132 & 33kV cables and all pressure testing.  

Northern Powergrid decided to change the existing oil filled circuit breakers for modern SF6 Circuit Breakers within Lackenby BSP as they have reached the end of their design life. Due to some of the 66Kv feeder circuits being heavily loaded, it was nearly impossible to change the circuit breakers within the required outage timeframes. 

Western Power Distribution (WPD) have recognised that there is to be a significant load growth in Birmingham out of Selly Oak switching station and have therefore looked to reinforce/upgrade the substation to allow for the future needs of the city.

Wootton & Wootton have been contracted to provide a turnkey package for the project management, excavation & reinstatement, installation of 132 & 11kV cables.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to install the 66kV balance of plant for the AIS build at the 66kV Larport Farm Battry Storage site that was being built.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted by an ED1 Alliance Partner to provide Tyco approved Jointing resource for the installation of the 132kV cables within a cross bonded system.  This included the installation of sectionalised & non sectionalised Tyco 132kV 3 piece joints, link boxes (ground mounted & stantion mounted), steelwork modifications and C55/5 testing.

Wootton & Wootton were successful in securing all of the distribution works on Goole Fields II wind farm, including the onsite 33kV private network, the Contestable grid connection and the Northern Powergrid Point of Connection works.

Northern Powergrid decided to overlay the existing oil filled 132kV circuit with modern day XLPE as the existing cables were prone to leaks, resulting in environmental concerns and had reached the end of their design life.

To facilitate a new Barratt Homes development a dual circuit 66kV Northern Powergrid tower line required diversion from Overhead to Underground Cable. 

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to carryout excavations, reinstatement, installation of cables, construction of joint bays, installation of joint & terminations and pressure test upon completion. 

Due to end of life and increased maintenace requirments, Northern Powergrid looked to replaced a 132kV oil filled circuit with XLPE. Wootton & Wootton were contracted to carry out all jointing of the new XPLE circuit and decommissionig of the oil filled cable.

Due to high fault occurances on a section of OHL in Doncaster, South Yorkshire; Northern Powergrid chose to replace the circuit with underground cables along a route approximately 1km in length from concrete gantry outdoor sealing end structuresat each substation.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to modify the existing OHL concrete support structures into CSE structures, install intermediate straight joints (power & communications), installation of cable sealing ends, site supervision and pressure testing upon completion.

Dalkia Energy has built a £40m wood burning biomass facility in Chilton, County Durham. The facility generates 17.5MW of electricity which is sold back to the grid via its underground 66kv cable Ccts which has now been adopted by DNO Northern Powergrid (NPg).

In order to facilitate the renewal of an aging AIS Substation, Wootton & Wootton were contracted to conduct all the necessary 66kV jointing & testing as required by Northern Powergrid.

Renewable Energy Connections was appointed to build a large scale ground mounted solar farm near to the small town of Herne Bay in Kent on behalf of British Solar Renewables. The farm is spread over 212 acres and it generates 49.9MW of electricity which is sold back to the grid via its underground 132kv cable Cct which is connected to UKPN’s Herne bay 132KV S/S.

Northwick Estates in Gloucestershire gained permission to construct their own anaerobic digestion system to produce electricity to feed back into the grid and required project management, installation & commissioning of the 66kV AIS Substation.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to complete 132kV jointing, terminating and link boxes for a new data centre being built near Dagenham, East London.

Wootton & Wootton were contracted to complete jointing for a 132kV substation rebuild as part of a wider project to install a new transformer and generally renew a National Grid yard.
